The terminology database of NAV CANADA, the country's provider of civil air navigation services
At NAV CANADA and throughout the aviation industry, accurate and precise terminology helps to promote clear communications, which play an important role in safety. NAV CANADA is subject to the provisions of the Official Languages Act and is therefore required to produce all its documents in English and in French, which is why in 2001 it implemented Terminav©, a free, bilingual terminology database designed to meet the linguistic needs of the Company and of stakeholders that are directly or indirectly involved in civil air navigation.
Terminav© contains thousands of terms in both official languages that are specific to NAV CANADA, to the aviation industry and to other related fields, and that have been created and standardized by the Company or taken from reliable sources.
Terminav© is frequently updated by the NAV CANADA Translation and Terminology team, who is continuously expanding the database with a multitude of relevant terms. All terms are validated and classified by domain prior to being added to the database, thereby ensuring the quality and efficiency of this terminology tool.
